Dual Brake SystemRedundant main disc brake system
The two independent disc brake systems provide each full braking capacity to park the drawworks under normal (static) conditions or stop the drawworks under emergency stop conditions. You will find more information about DBS in the PDF-Dokument.
Wireline Protection SystemAgainst the bird's nest effect
Emergency braking systems on drawworks will immediately activate the disk brake resulting in an immediate transfer of load from the drives to the disc brake. These stops will most likely result in slack wireline and thus possible nesting around the drawworks drum or sheave jumping at the crown.
